LEGO® 21327 Ideas Typewriter

Build a Nostalgic LEGO® Typewriter Masterpiece

Step back in time with LEGO® Ideas set 21327, a detailed brick-built typewriter inspired by the classic machine used by LEGO Group founder Ole Kirk Kristiansen. This premium adult-focused model features fully functional mechanics—a centre typebar that rises with each keystroke, a carriage that moves across as you type, and a platen roller ready for real paper. With 2,079 pieces, this is a substantial build experience that rewards patience and precision.

Every detail captures typewriter authenticity, from the individual keys to the intricate mechanical linkages. The finished model measures 11 cm high, 27 cm wide, and 26 cm deep, making it an impressive desk or shelf display. This set includes a signed letter from Thomas Kirk Kristiansen (fourth-generation LEGO owner) in 43 languages—a collectible touch that elevates this beyond a typical build.

Why Collectors Seek This Retired Set

LEGO Ideas set 21327 retired in December 2024, making it increasingly difficult to find in factory-sealed condition. Created by fan designer Steve Guinness and voted into production by the LEGO community, this set represents a unique moment in LEGO history—a fan's vision brought to life. Collectors value Ideas sets for their limited production windows, distinctive themes, and the story of fan-to-official collaboration.

The typewriter's nostalgic appeal and functional build mechanics make it a standout display piece. Unlike typical LEGO sets, this model invites interaction—typing on the keys, feeding paper through the roller, and displaying the included letter creates an engaging ownership experience that justifies shelf space in serious collections.
